Deena from Los Angeles, CA
I learned to knit in October 2003 out of boredom! I had just finished business school and was frustrated with my job search. I was watching The View one morning when they did a segment on knitting which sparked my interest.
Well, after the show, I got on my computer and found a yarn store in West LA. I called my mom and told her my new plan to take a knitting class and to my surprise, she knew how to knit! My grandma taught me to crochet when I was a child but never knew that my mom was a knitter. I purchased some grey wool, size 9 needles and an instruction book. My mom showed me the knit and purl stitch and I was off and running. By December, I had made scarves, hats, socks and a knitting bag!
In addition to knitting, I enjoy traveling, snowboarding and reading. My favorite movie is Room With a View and My favorite book is Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston.
